“You can imagine the challenges we faced renovating the Hollywood Athletic Club. The 82 year-old building was lacking just about everything in terms of modern building code standards. Though its flaws often add to its innate charm, it was quite demanding in terms of safety and occupancy codes. There were no fire life or safety systems, no sprinkler systems, no fiber optics, no stereo systems. Every part of the building had to be brought up to the current occupancy and code standards for use of a modern day Hollywood restaurant and social setting.”

Working tough 16-hour days, the Brackett team completed renovations in an astounding five months between October 2005 and March 2006, making everything ready in time for the public opening. Steve notes, “That’s the kind of effort it takes. Total commitment and total dedication to pull it off – and we did!”

Quality of the construction for a building like this has to do entirely with the coordination of the different functions by the Contractor and the devoted craftsmanship of each trade that contributes to it. From the glass and tile artistry to the plumbing - every member of every trade worked diligently because they wanted to create a showpiece. They took pride in their work. It certainly shows in the end result – the Social Hollywood is a masterwork of architecture, design and building skill.

For more than 19 years Steve Brackett has been building with an eye for perfection that has led to the creation of some of the most spectacular historical renovations, first class restaurants and modern commercial designs in Hollywood.
